[00:00:00] Speaker A: Hi, I'm Stan. [00:00:02] Speaker B: And I'm Shen. [00:00:03] Speaker A: And each week we bring you the Stan and Shen Show. And each week we talk about fun things through our travels throughout the capital region. We touch on food, we touch on news, try to touch heavily on good news. And Shen's always available with hot takes. [00:00:20] Speaker B: Yeah. So if you could follow along and listen to us every week on DailyGazette.com or on all major streaming platforms, we'd love to have you join us. [00:00:30] Speaker A: So what would your walk up music be for the podcast Ready for It. [00:00:35] Speaker B: By Taylor Swift, but just that part where she goes, are you ready for it? Duh, duh, duh. And then I'd just come in and start talking. [00:00:45] Speaker A: All right, well, that's what we're gonna use then. We'll just use you doing that. [00:00:50] Speaker B: Okay. [00:00:52] Speaker A: For me, if we had the cash. If we had the cash. Without a doubt. Greatest warmup ever. And you're a hockey fan. You know this. Thunderstruck. [00:01:02] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, yeah. [00:01:04] Speaker A: So you want me to do my warm up? So let's. [00:01:10] Speaker B: And our break. Music can be Sweet Caroline. Sing song can be Sweet Caroline. It's a good song. [00:01:16] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. That's how we go out. See, there we go. We're good. Good. [00:01:26] Speaker B: It's the only time where everyone is friendly in the arena. Yes, we hate each other, but we're still friendly enough where we may even lock arms and sway. But when the puck drops, we need. [00:01:42] Speaker A: More unity in the world. [00:01:45] Speaker B: Not during hockey game. [00:01:48] Speaker A: All right. Hello. And what a week it's been. And once again, it's hump day. So it's time for the Dan and Shen show podcast. [00:01:58] Speaker B: Yeah. I feel like every week lately we're walking in here and going, what a week it has been. [00:02:03] Speaker A: And it's. And we do this on. I mean, we record this typically on Wednesdays and we try to get it posted on Thursdays. And it's like it's been nuts. It's been. It's been an insane week. [00:02:15] Speaker B: Insane year. [00:02:17] Speaker A: But the Stan and Shen show has been on the newsy side of things for four straight days. [00:02:27] Speaker B: Yes, yes. So my unenthusiastic. Yes. [00:02:34] Speaker A: Yeah, it has. So we're going to talk about the good news and then we'll just go into. [00:02:39] Speaker B: I start with the serious. [00:02:40] Speaker A: Okay. [00:02:41] Speaker B: Start with the series. End on the good. Semi good. Depending on how you look at it. [00:02:45] Speaker A: So Tuesday, full day beyond belief. 1, 2, 3. [00:02:52] Speaker B: Really start with Monday. Monday was a full day for me. Jury. I had to sit through jury selection, correct a trial. A very. We can say weird. It's. Even the defense attorney said it's a weird trial. If you're not aware there's a case going on in Saratoga county court right now of a Milton man who is accused of recklessly causing the death of a Ticonderoga man who was well known for his participation in a Star Trek museum in the area and as an Elvis impersonator who, by police accounts. And it doesn't sound like any of this is. Is being contested by the defense, died from the use of chloroform during a sexual act. And I think everyone will agree that this case has what sounds to be the makings of a Lifetime movie. And I know among the media, we have talked about how it's weird. This hasn't made national news yet because it is something that I feel like any other time of the year would be picked up. But there are so many things going on just locally, federally, and at the state level. I mean, so I think it just. [00:04:05] Speaker A: Kind of got so Monday was light day. [00:04:07] Speaker B: Monday was. Well, when you look at Tuesday. Well, yeah, when you look at Tuesday. So Tuesday. Tuesday was interesting. Finish up jury selection. We are preparing to hear opening arguments when we get a text message that we needed to be in court, that we were already in for another person, Dennis Drew, who was convicted in the. Was it manslaughter, drunk driving, multiple charges, drunk driving and deaths of two Shen students several years ago. It's like 2013, right? [00:04:42] Speaker A: Yeah. And seriously injuring two others. [00:04:44] Speaker B: Yeah. So before my time here or even living in this area. But he essentially, he's back in Saratoga County Court, where the district's attorney's office is arguing that since his release to probation, he has violated the terms of his conditions by way of not reporting that he didn't have a vehicle. Which is interesting when you think about it. But apparently the terms of his condition say that he, regardless of whether he does or does not have a vehicle, he must tell probation which one it is. And if he does have a vehicle, he must put an interlock device on it within 10 days. They are alleging that he has not done so. And this also sort of will likely play out that he was previously appeared in Colony Town Court for potential parole violation, which I think is. Is a settled matter now, and he's in good standing with parole. Now it's about probation because he was caught at a park in Colony in a running car in which he was in the driver's seat. That car is apparently not owned by him and also did not have an interlock device. But seems like this may play into this case. We will find out more in June, correct? [00:06:02] Speaker A: In June. [00:06:02] Speaker B: And the trial, though is ongoing, so. [00:06:05] Speaker A: Yes, trials ongoing. [00:06:06] Speaker B: And we may likely hear from the defendant, Ronald Rehear in the case, which will be very intriguing to hear. Did see some body cam footage on day two, hear the opening arguments. There's a lot to unravel in this case, so much so that I'm pretty certain there are so many details we just couldn't even get into yesterday's paper that that will continue to be added as we talk about this and keep everybody updated. But today I actually took a break from court, but not a break from news as today is also one of those days where I come in to do things and other things happen. And unfortunately, today's tragic news is that the death of a three year old girl in Corinth has been rude, ruled a negligent homicide, a criminally negligent homicide. Her parents have been charged with criminally negligent homicide, a felony, for causing her, for allegedly causing her death. And you know, we're going to see that also play out in court in June and more to come on that. But we do know from investigators that this is likely to be a really sad and tragic story of what happened to this little girl and the apparent deplorable living conditions she, she was in. [00:07:25] Speaker A: So, and we started so good the weekend. [00:07:30] Speaker B: Yeah, we did, we did. [00:07:32] Speaker A: Dragging you out on a Sunday. [00:07:34] Speaker B: They did drag me out on a Sunday. It was very difficult. Did not want to get off the couch. I've been watching 91 1, the show, and I'm, I'm, I'm fully invested. I have investment in couples. I have investments in people in their children. On this show, if, you know, if you watch a show and you really get into it, you're like you're part of the family. And I don't know what it is with me, but even though I cover like a lot of crime here in the office, and I have since my time as a journalist, I still watch a lot of crime shows. Nothing is ever as it appears. Let me just tell you, jury selection is not how it looks. [00:08:10] Speaker A: It was rough when I was there, being polite and standing in the very back of the courtroom seething because of our placement. [00:08:21] Speaker B: I always like to hear how people like to get like what people say to get out of jury selection. That was there was always interesting. I love the people who just go up. I just cannot be unbiased. [00:08:31] Speaker A: That was. We had. [00:08:33] Speaker B: What does that even mean? [00:08:34] Speaker A: We had One perspective juror that was literally, I cannot make a decision on someone else. [00:08:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:08:40] Speaker A: Like, there's like, no, no, I don't. I want to be here right now. And it was. [00:08:44] Speaker B: I just. I wonder how they do with making other decisions in their life. [00:08:47] Speaker A: Yeah. So it's. Anyways, but Sunday started out great. As we were at. It was Daily Gazette night, a day game with the New York Phoenix, and the Stan and Shen show was there, and Newsy kind of reached new heights. [00:09:05] Speaker B: Ha. I see what you did there. The inside joke. If you know, you know, and if you don't, you should pay attention. [00:09:12] Speaker A: But as we all have said that the Newsy bench is deep. And we had a rookie Newsie. [00:09:19] Speaker B: We did. [00:09:20] Speaker A: We did. [00:09:20] Speaker B: But he showed out. It was good. [00:09:22] Speaker A: Like, this could be like, rookie of the year. [00:09:24] Speaker B: Yeah. Or I should say they showed out. [00:09:27] Speaker A: They showed out. Rookie of the year. Potential candidate guarding Singe, you know, during a timeout. [00:09:34] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:09:35] Speaker A: And then also, you know, the infamous basketball ankle broke, figuratively speaking, as Newsy went down after she burned him, telling. [00:09:44] Speaker B: Got back up, telling us that they could totally make a basket and then proceeded to not make a basket. [00:09:50] Speaker A: It was an airball, wasn't it? Or it at least hit the backboard. [00:09:53] Speaker B: I think there was an air ball, and then there was one in the backboard. [00:09:56] Speaker A: Okay. [00:09:56] Speaker B: So in our minds, he made it. [00:09:58] Speaker A: Yes, yes. Newsy's always a winner. [00:10:01] Speaker B: But from here on out, I did put on Facebook, Singe has shared said video. And they were tight. Our mascots are tight. [00:10:09] Speaker A: Absolutely. [00:10:10] Speaker B: I mean, we're might be the best duo around. [00:10:13] Speaker A: Possibility of a playoff appearance by Newsy. [00:10:16] Speaker B: Oh, that would be great. Be exceptionally great. [00:10:18] Speaker A: It'd be great if we get a packed house. [00:10:20] Speaker B: I will say this, though. I know it was Sunday. I know it was raining, but I wish there were more people. I think. I think, you know, we've had some really good games where you see people come out, and then you get games like this where we're there, and I'm just wishing there were more people. And, like, I get it. It's a Sunday. You got to prepare for the next week or all of that good stuff. I totally get it. But, like, it was. It was raining. What else were you doing on a Sunday? I know a lot of you were napping, and you should have been here. Okay. Should have been here, needed support. And I will say this. The tickets are only, like, $20, and I feel like there's always some. [00:10:56] Speaker A: I think 12 years less so. [00:10:58] Speaker B: And I feel like there's always Some promotion running and they got the Nibble Knocks cookie dunk things there. So I'm just. And they always sell out, but maybe not on a Sunday. So you could eat a lot of those. And it's just fun. It's just fun. And like, support your local team. If you want to keep athletics in this area, you got to support the athletics in this area. [00:11:15] Speaker A: And Phoenix put on a dunk contest in the last three minutes there against. Against Reading. So the one humorous thing that came out of Sunday was one of the dads that was there said that his son thought that Newsy was the other team's mascot because they were playing the Reading Rebels. [00:11:33] Speaker B: Yes. [00:11:34] Speaker A: But as a youngster, it looks like Reading Rebels. So he thought reading meant reading the newspaper. So he thought Newsy was the Reading mascot. So that was like kind of a cute, funny story. [00:11:46] Speaker B: Cute and all, but it does say Daily Gazette Newsy. [00:11:51] Speaker A: And we were on the scoreboard. [00:11:52] Speaker B: Newsy is a mascot for is the First Amendment. [00:11:56] Speaker A: And there it is again. Never ends. A reminder. Our own Schoolhouse Rock. [00:12:03] Speaker B: Hashtag journalism. [00:12:04] Speaker A: Hashtag journalism. [00:12:05] Speaker B: Speaking of journalism. [00:12:06] Speaker A: Journalism. Nice tag. Nice tag. [00:12:08] Speaker B: Did you see what I did there? I'm good. Anyways, so our favorited to win the Kentucky Derby did not. I think everybody in the business was behind the horse named Journalism and we all needed it this year. We did not get it yet. So we are keeping our fingers crossed that this horse races at Belmont this year and it would, you know, it'd be fitting to win in Saratoga. [00:12:31] Speaker A: For Traverse. [00:12:32] Speaker B: For. [00:12:33] Speaker A: No, for Vermont or the Traverse. Or win. [00:12:36] Speaker B: Or. Or win both. I'm just saying Saratoga. [00:12:38] Speaker A: I. I take, you know, Saratoga county the place to run and win the Travers more in the Belmont. [00:12:44] Speaker B: I just want them to win in Saratoga. [00:12:46] Speaker A: Our race. [00:12:47] Speaker B: I just want them to win in Saratoga. Primarily because of the history. [00:12:51] Speaker A: Exactly. [00:12:52] Speaker B: Of Saratoga. [00:12:53] Speaker A: Travers is a Saratoga race, not this transplant. You know. Yeah, it's. You know. [00:12:58] Speaker B: Anyways, but we on. On a good note for us, maybe not for a lot of other people, there is no going to be no Triple Crown this year. [00:13:05] Speaker A: Correct. Kentucky Derby was won by Sovereignty. [00:13:09] Speaker B: Also a very fitting. The names this year are really solid. [00:13:13] Speaker A: Not running in the Preakness. So we will not have a Triple Crown possibility as we. As we've been told. And Mike McAdam wrote about. [00:13:21] Speaker B: I'm sure Mike is sad about that. But as you know, from last year, as I was watching the Kentucky Derby in the office, I was the only person in the office hoping that the favorite or the Preakness. Yes. I was the Only person in the office hoping that the Kentucky Derby winner did not win the Preakness, because I did not, for the first year of Belmont being in Saratoga, want to deal with what kind of crowd we would have if we did have a Triple Crown. And so I am elated beyond relief. [00:13:52] Speaker A: Apologies to Todd Simkiss and the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce. [00:13:55] Speaker B: Yeah. And all the other. [00:13:56] Speaker A: Every hotel and every business. [00:13:58] Speaker B: Yeah. Sorry, folks. But I'm happy because. [00:14:01] Speaker A: Oh, well. That. [00:14:02] Speaker B: I think they're still going to get a crowd for sure. [00:14:04] Speaker A: But I. I think the fact. [00:14:06] Speaker B: A fun race to watch, like a lot of people, so that. [00:14:10] Speaker A: So, I mean. I mean, this is huge. I mean, having. Having the Kentucky Derby winner racing in the Belmont itself. [00:14:16] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:17] Speaker A: Is huge. And then if there's a chance to say, journalism wins the Preakness, you know, then goes to Belmont, then you've got what everybody's looking for. And do you then see a rematch, possibly in the Travers or maybe the. [00:14:31] Speaker B: Alabama, which is considered the. The fourth jewel. [00:14:35] Speaker A: Correct. [00:14:36] Speaker B: Of this crown. [00:14:36] Speaker A: Correct. Young Newsy. Yes. [00:14:38] Speaker B: I've learned a lot since last year. [00:14:40] Speaker A: Yes, you have. You become that. So that's how we started. That's how, like, your week started, Correct. My week started earlier. My week started on Saturday. [00:14:51] Speaker B: Well, I mean, technically, my week did start on Saturday. I was still working. I was finishing the story. [00:14:56] Speaker A: Okay, you're finishing something because, well, I was writing is the allotted time given. So I was on duty. Comic Con on Saturday. So it's her to go city center. And amazed. Rita rode by. 11 o' clock. So the thing opens at 11. VIP got in early, but VIPs got in early. Rita goes in, driving by just past 11 o' clock. She's like, texting me. There's a line around the city center. She goes, it's insane. I'm like, okay, so I'm at one or two assignments, and then I go up to comic con. It's 1:30. There's still a line all the way around. [00:15:37] Speaker B: Do you just use flash, that press pass and get it? [00:15:39] Speaker A: Once it started raining outside, as I was talking to people and taking photos, I'm like, all right, I gotta do the thing. So I got the pass and I went in the side door and got in. And they. I mean, the convention center portion was full of vendors, full of people. This year, they moved the signers, all the invited talent, they moved them out into the lobby, the hotel lobby, which was great because they had more signers than I ever remember before. And they had two live actors, people that I was Familiar with Kastos, Mandalore, which obviously is a great name, but he's had that for a long time. He was fantastic. He played detective Mark Hoffman in Saw movies three through six. [00:16:24] Speaker B: Saw, you said. Yeah, I didn't watch any of those. [00:16:26] Speaker A: Yeah, that's pretty scary. That's a scary thing. [00:16:29] Speaker B: Very rarely watch scary. [00:16:32] Speaker A: So he had a great crowd and his interaction with people was great. I captured that. I got a 80 photo gallery up on DailyGazette.com and then on the way up, knowing this, I called Rita. Rita was very excited because Brian Kraus was there. [00:16:48] Speaker B: Yes. [00:16:48] Speaker A: Who played Leo. [00:16:49] Speaker B: Yes. Uncharmed. [00:16:51] Speaker A: Yes. Uncharmed from 98 to 2016. [00:16:54] Speaker B: Seen every episode of Charmed. [00:16:56] Speaker A: So he played the role of Leo Wyatt. So I watched him. His interactions were great. He was a lot of fun. He was so good on that. And he was funny. He was funny the whole time. And I was there. I'd see him at 2 o' clock and I'd see him at 3 o' clock. [00:17:08] Speaker B: The interactions, you didn't do the shout out from the audience, like looking up to the ceiling and be like, Leo. Because that's part of the show. He comes down. [00:17:17] Speaker A: I didn't hear any Leos. I did not hear any Leos. So he was great and I had a great interaction with him that I'm going to share now with our co host as soon as I pull it up here. [00:17:35] Speaker C: Hey, Shane, it's Brian Krause here. I hear you doing great things on the show at the newspaper and I want to say. Oh, look at that. How sexy is that? Same guy? [00:17:46] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:17:47] Speaker B: Listen, Curtis, keep it up. [00:17:49] Speaker C: You're kicking ass. Enter the stand and Shenzhou, keep rocking. I'm Brian Krause. Much love. [00:17:57] Speaker B: Oh, my God. It's awesome. I need that. I need that so I can send it to all my family members. That's great. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my grandpa would have loved that because he watched that show too all the time. Because it was always on in the morning on tnt. Is always on at tnt. It's always on actually in the gym too. Except Supernatural was on today, which is also a good show. So if you ever run into the people that played Sam and. Oh, my God, Sam and Dean on the show. Jensen Ackles. And you know who I'm talking. Yes. Okay, you call me. [00:18:33] Speaker A: You got one. All right. [00:18:35] Speaker B: You call me if they're there. [00:18:37] Speaker A: I got you one, kid. [00:18:38] Speaker B: I'm just saying if you ever see them, you call me. I will be there. I'll work that day. I don't care. [00:18:43] Speaker A: So live on the podcast recording. [00:18:46] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:18:46] Speaker A: Who's the best? Who's the best right now? [00:18:50] Speaker B: Stan, you're at. You're the bomb dot com. But I say that all the time. That's awesome though. I'm, I'm so, so, so excited. That's cool. Yeah, I need that. So did you get one for Rita? [00:19:03] Speaker A: Rita got an autograph. Oh, nice. So the, the whole trip, I don't. [00:19:07] Speaker B: Know, I feel like that's better than. [00:19:08] Speaker A: The whole interaction slash transaction because nobody does anything for free at these shows. Was letting him let talking to Brian Saturday and Sunday. I got him to do this on Sunday. So I went back to Comic Con just for you and for Rita and worked my magic to get it within budget. And I said, well, here you go. I've got the two hardest names. I've got a Shenandoah like the Valley and I've got a Rita, but it's spelled R E D A. And so it's on a piece of, it's on a post it note for Brian to sign an autograph for Rita for Mother's Day. So she can't listen to this until Sunday. And he's looking at, he looks at me, he goes, R E D A. I go, yeah, the name's as difficult as she is. [00:19:59] Speaker B: He can't say that about her. It's almost Mother's Day. [00:20:01] Speaker A: And then to make sure he got the drop right, I was wearing my Stan and Shen show shirt because we had the Phoenix that night. [00:20:09] Speaker B: Oh yes. [00:20:10] Speaker A: So he had heard. So Saturday, him and his handler from the, the, the agency knew all about the standards. They probably couldn't wait to see me go away. And then I came back Sunday and. [00:20:24] Speaker B: I, well, if you're listening, you've got the biggest shout out here from when you're one of your followers. I still watch the show from time to time. I won't even lie. I don't know what it is. It's just like a comfort thing. So I need a Leo in my life. [00:20:37] Speaker A: Here's what happens on our day off when Rita and I are, are off together and it's like, alarm, alarm. All right, forget it. We don't have anything. And I fall asleep and the TV goes from Young Sheldon and then Charmed comes on. At that point I'm like, oh man, you slept in a while because now it's like past 8 o' clock now. Yeah, like you're wicked. Slept in. [00:21:00] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:01] Speaker A: You know, if it's 6am it's usually young Sheldon and I know I'm good, but as soon as I hear that music, that intro, I'm like, oh, crap. So I gotta get going. So that was, that was a gift to the co host and the podcast. And I'm gonna say it right here, right now, Brian Krause, friend of the Standing show podcast. [00:21:23] Speaker B: Oh, definitely, definitely. If he wants to ever come on, he can come. No doubt about it. We'll kick whoever's off that week. [00:21:30] Speaker A: We have video proof of a friend of the podcast. So this weekend, so just from one podcast to another, just so as you listen to us, the Stan and Chen show, search for it on all your different podcast platforms. Shout out to Ken Shot, the Parting Shot, Parting Shots podcast. Listen to that on all your available podcast channels. We got Brian Kraus, who I ran into for two days in a row and kind of talked him into doing this. Ken just picks up the phone. So he had Eric McDowell on this Week, who is a local organizer and hosting the fifth annual Capital District Sports Women of the Year event. And the Gazette's been a part of that as a voting body as well as helping out with some of the information and bios on those young women that are nominees. And then there's typically been an event at the GE Theatre at Proctors. A friend of the podcast, even though he hasn't told me yet that he listens to it, Tim Reynolds, who comes from the other the Times Union, a great friend to myself and Rito and one of the greatest journalists out there in sports, works for the Associated Press. I want to steal Tim's phone because I know Tim has like LeBron James on speed dial. He probably has Steph on speed dial. [00:22:57] Speaker B: I would love a shout out from either Or. [00:22:59] Speaker A: Okay, either or. [00:23:00] Speaker B: Okay, either or. [00:23:01] Speaker A: We'll work on that big name. We may do a GoFundMe for a cameo from LeBron. So Tim Rales was just elected to the New York State Basketball hall of Fame. And he called in and talked to Ken and went through all the old stuff and talked about the NBA playoffs. And then he also had on Pierre McGuire, NHL analyst, talking about the NHL playoffs. And where are you right now with the NHL playoffs? I mean, are you sad or. [00:23:28] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm not really watching anymore. Okay, so my team's not in it. [00:23:32] Speaker A: Okay. Are you done? Are you like, read like. [00:23:34] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. And I know, and I'm going to get a lot of hate for this. I'm a New Yorker, but I don't support either New York team. I'm sorry. The only New York team I support here in the state is the Buffalo Bills, because they're really the only true football team we have. I don't care about the jets and the Giants fans out there. Sorry, guys. Sorry. Not sorry. But I'm a Pittsburgh Penguins fan. I grew up watching Sidney Crosby. Have always loved him. The man didn't have a significant other. I'd probably be living in Canada trying to be his wife. So I'm just saying. [00:24:05] Speaker A: Along with many. [00:24:08] Speaker B: So, uh, but they did not make it this year and have actually parted ways with their head coach. Um, so we'll see what happens. Might be a rebuilding year next year. Um, but as you're aware, you know, he's. He's made history in his time, and so that's exciting. And then I haven't really kept up since. I do know. I think it's the Minnesota Wild with Mark. Andre Flory are now out too. He would have been my other. That I would have rooted for this year just because it's his his final season playing and he's retiring and just overall loved him as a goaltender. Played on the Penguins for a long time. Won a Stanley cup with them. Actually, I think won a few Stanley Cups with them. So he's great. If the Capitals are left, I guess that's who I'm going with. [00:24:52] Speaker A: There you go. Going with ovi. [00:24:54] Speaker B: Going with ov. Man. Making history this year. Gotta. Gotta. I just want to see him keep building up the. The, you know, the number of goals. It's this. It's great. I mean, especially doing it in a. In playoffs. But, yeah, I haven't really kept up too much. I'll catch a game here or there while I'm at the gym, but I don't know. Once your team's kind of out, it's kind of hard to, like, really be, like, into it, I guess. [00:25:18] Speaker A: So does that fall under, like, not a true fan of the game? [00:25:22] Speaker B: I mean, I haven't. I really haven't followed hockey too much more since. Since college in, like, I'm not a fan to the degree of, like, I'm gonna sit there and be like, breath. That was offsides. Like, I'm not. I'm not one of those people. Like, I. I like. I like what the game is and, you know, I like any other person who watches hockey, loves a good fight on ice. Love. Loved Canada versus usa. Oh, that was not gonna say who I rooted for, but yeah, I mean, I think let's, you know, see what happens next year with the Penguins. But if Anything. I think bring back four nations. Heck, I think make it six nations. I don't know, like, because I was kind of sad that Obi couldn't play. But I understand what's going on with Russia, why we're not, you know, and all that. But, like, let's do it. That was fun. That was a lot of fun. And then having to watch some of these guys go back and play on their teams. Like, I'm pretty sure one of the main people for Team USA is on, like, a Canadian team normally during the season. So it's like, that awkwardness I love. But one other thing I want to toss in for the podcast this week, since it is coming out hopefully tomorrow. Mother's Day is a Sunday, so happy Mother's Day to everyone out there who celebrates and partakes in it. And also during this time, you know, happy Mother's Day to those who wish they could be mothers, those who are trying to be mothers but have not been successful in that, and everyone else who, you know, may be dealing with the loss of a mother maybe didn't have the best mother. You know, thinking of all of you guys on this Mother's Day, it's one of those holidays just like when you reflect on Christmas or Thanksgiving, that you got to remind yourself that there are some people who don't have those sorts of relationships. But maybe they had a father who stepped in to be a mother. Maybe they had a Rita like I do who steps in from time to time to yell at the speed limit you're driving and is a mother to. [00:27:20] Speaker A: You, not a speed over the speed limit. [00:27:22] Speaker B: Yeah, well, the speed you're driving. [00:27:24] Speaker A: Speed. Yeah. Yeah. [00:27:26] Speaker B: So, you know, so we thank everyone who steps up to be a mother, and they all deserve a shout out for Mother's Day. [00:27:35] Speaker A: Absolutely. Absolutely. [00:27:37] Speaker B: Don't say anymore. I think we should end on a. [00:27:39] Speaker A: High note, but I got a week. I got a big weekend coming up. But it's all good. [00:27:46] Speaker B: You can touch base next week. We ended on Mother's Day. It was good. It was a good way to end. [00:27:51] Speaker A: All right. I'll be at New York State Rowing Championships, which always ends on Mother's Day. So I've always used a headline back at the old day of medals for Mom. Okay, like, what's better? You can get a roses, but why not get a gold medal as a teenage rower? [00:28:07] Speaker B: Okay. [00:28:07] Speaker A: Have you ever rowed? [00:28:08] Speaker B: No. I can't swim, so I don't get in boats. Really? [00:28:12] Speaker A: You can't pass the swim test, so we can't do learn to row together. No, that would be awesome. It's burpees on water. [00:28:19] Speaker B: No, I'm good. I don't like burpees on land. [00:28:24] Speaker A: All right, so I guess that's it for this week. We're gonna wrap it up. Big weekend Proctors. High School Musical Theater Awards. I'll be on the stage co hosting with Jane Leonard of Proctors. So congratulations to all those that are nominated. Can't wait to see more of the acts and performances, which is always great. And, you know, who knows what else may happen before or after the show. On the Gazette side, shout out to Newsy for a great job last Sunday and this Sunday, by all means. [00:28:59] Speaker B: Never. [00:28:59] Speaker A: Ever forget your mom. And never, ever forget your mom. Make sure you call her. And for myself and Brian Krause, get us out of here. Co host. [00:29:16] Speaker B: I didn't come up with an ending here. I was just. All right, I'm Shen, and we'll see you next week. And hopefully it would be less stressful than this week. [00:29:26] Speaker A: I need you to say bye. [00:29:28] Speaker B: Oh, bye. [00:29:31] Speaker C: And to the Stan and Shen's show. Keep rocking. I'm Brian Krause. Much love.
